Metzler Corporate Finance hires Sven Wiesenthal to boost its family equity expertise and expand its focus on industrial M&A

  • Sven Wiesenthal is new Director of Metzler Corporate Finance
  • Expansion of advisory services for family offices, foundations and family holding companies
  • Strengthening of M&A business in the Industrials sector

Metzler Corporate Finance, the division of Metzler Bank that offers M&A advisory services, is expanding its team in Frankfurt. Sven Wiesenthal joined the team as Director in January of 2026. He will expand the advisory services offered to family equity investors, including family offices, foundations and family holding companies. He will also strengthen Metzler’s M&A business in the Industrials sector.

Sven Wiesenthal (37) has twelve years of experience in investment banking, most recently at Deutsche Bank and M.M. Warburg. Through numerous transactions with private and listed companies as well as multinational corporations and financial investors, he has gained in-depth corporate finance expertise which will now contribute to his work with family equity investors and family-run companies.

Family equity investors are becoming increasingly important for Metzler Bank as well as for corporate finance mandates due to their growing direct investment activities. More and more family offices, foundations and family holding companies are looking for entrepreneurial investments, whether through minority or majority stakes or by acquiring entire companies. At the same time, family businesses are increasingly keen to attract this type of investor as a long-term partner with similar values to support a sustainable growth strategy. Sven Wiesenthal will tap into his experience gained in transactions in the Industrials sector to help Metzler expand activities in this segment. Metzler sees a lot of potential for M&A transactions in this area.
By hiring Sven Wiesenthal, Metzler underscores its ambitions to continue growing while placing even greater focus on this increasingly professionally organized investor group and the Industrials sector.

Kim Comperl, Member of the Executive Board at Metzler Bank and responsible for the Corporate Finance division, says, "With Sven Wiesenthal, we are gaining an M&A advisor with extensive experience in executing M&A transactions and excellent relationships with family businesses and family equity investors. Such investors are playing an increasingly important role in Germany – both as long-term investors for entrepreneurial families and as relevant buyer alternatives in M&A processes. By expanding our family equity expertise and focusing on the Industrials sector, we are strengthening our position as a trusted, independent partner for demanding transactions."

Sven Wiesenthal, Director at Metzler Corporate Finance, says, "I am delighted to be able to contribute my corporate finance expertise to Metzler. My experience and client relationships are an excellent fit with the company's DNA. Metzler, itself a family business, has first-class relationships with other family businesses and family equity investors. My focus is on expanding the network and placing even greater emphasis on these investors in the area of corporate finance, as well as further expanding Metzler’s M&A business in the Industrials sector."
